He is the first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference SAAC representative to hold this position.

In this capacity, Purcilly will play an integral role in setting agendas for meetings, communicating with NCAA national office liaisons to continuously track the progress of legislation, and representing the Division I SAAC on multiple NCAA cabinets and committees.

A Mathematics/History Major, Purcilly boasts a 4.0 GPA and will graduate in May of 2014.

Presently, he is the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference SAAC Chair, President of the Saint Peter’s University’s Pi Mu Epsilon (Mathematics Honors Society), Vice President of Saint Peter’s University’s Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors Society) and a member of the Saint Peter’s Honors Program.

“It is truly an honor to be able to serve the 160,000 NCAA Division I student-athletes as the vice-chair of the National Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The fact that the committee had enough confidence in me to select me as a leader is extremely gratifying. I am so passionate about the work we do at Division I SAAC in improving the experience of student-athletes, and to be selected to serve an increased role in this effort will only strengthen my resolve for this cause”, commented Purcilly on his election.

“Adam has displayed great leadership not only in the class room and on the playing field, but also through SAAC at the institutional, conference and now national level. He is the epitome of the ideal student-athlete, which is evident in the multitude of accomplishments during his collegiate career. We are extremely fortunate to have Adam’s leadership and guidance at Saint Peter’s and look forward to him executing these same qualities at the national level”, remarked Tara Wuorinen, Academic Athletic Coordinator and Saint Peter’s SAAC advisor.

“Adam’s dedication to his academic and athletic success, coupled with his passion to help others, makes him the ideal student-athlete. Being elected Vice Chair of the National SAAC is a tremendous accomplishment and I am extremely proud of him”, stated Head Baseball Coach Sean Cashman
