KISSIMMEE, FL – The Saint Peter's baseball team continued play at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, FL on Saturday, falling to UMass, 13-5.
Peacock leaders on the day included Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill) who hit .500, going 2-for-4 with a team-high three RBI. Tom Campo (Pine Beach, NJ / Toms River South) batted in the two other Peacock runs, going 1-for-3 and also crossing home plate once for a run. Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS), Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS), Austin Feigin (Toms River, NJ / Toms River North), and Hunter Mason (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) all scored one run for the Peacocks.
UMass got out to an 8-0 lead a third of the way through, and 13-1 lead through six innings. The Peacocks best inning came in the top of the seventh when the Peacocks scored four runs in a comeback attempt. The first two of the quadruple runs came when Campo hit a two RBI single through the left side, scoring Mason and Feigin. Ciocco followed with a two RBI single to right center, sending home Campo and Perez.
Starting sophomore left-handed pitcher Anthony Ramos (North Bergen, NJ / North Bergen) struck out three in 4.0 innings on the mound, but ended the day with the loss after surrendering eight runs.
The Peacocks fall to 0-2 on the season. The Peacocks continue action at the neutral site with their second meeting against Butler on Sunday at 11 a.m.
