Baseball Concludes Action in Florida with Setback to Pitt

KISSIMMEE, FL – The Saint Peter's baseball team fell to Pitt on Tuesday, concluding action at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, FL. The Peacocks suffered a 21-1 setback to the Panthers.

 

Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill) had the best game at the plate for the Peacocks, earning two of the team's three hits on the day. The Peacocks lone run came in the fifth inning when Chris Marquart (Hackettstown, NJ / Morris Catholic) got on base from a fielding error, and then scored from third after an error by the pitcher.

 

Lefty pitcher Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS) made the start for the Peacocks, going 3.0 innings. Quintero (0-1) struck out a team-high three batters. Six Peacocks saw the mound in the game, combining for 10 strikeouts.

 

The Peacocks fall to 0-4 on the season. Saint Peter's will return to the Northeast later in the week for a three game road series against LIU Brooklyn. The Peacocks and Blackbirds will meet on March 9, 10, and 11, playing all three games in the afternoon.
