Baseball Drops Sunday’s Meeting against Manhattan

BRONX, NY – The Saint Peter's baseball team concluded the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opening series at Houlihan Park in Bronx, NY with the Manhattan Jaspers sweeping the Peacocks. The Peacocks fell 18-2 in the final game of the series on Sunday.


Peter Ferony (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) posted the Peacocks best stat line on the evening, going 1-for-3 at the plate, bating in a run, scoring a run, and also drawing a walk in the game. Chris Marquart (Hackettstown, NJ / Morris Catholic) picked up an RBI and Anthony Ramos (North Bergen, NJ / North Bergen) scored one run for Saint Peter's additionally.


Five Peacocks say action on the mound, with starting pitcher, Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS) (0-3) receiving the defeat. Freshman Chris Pimentel (Bronx, NY / LaSalle Academy) pitched two scoreless innings in relief during the fifth and sixth and Steve Epstein (Marlboro, NJ / Marlboro) recorded a team-best four strikeouts for the Peacocks in the final two innings to close out the night.


The Peacocks will return to Houlihan Park on Tuesday, March 27 for a meeting with Fordham at 3:30 p.m.
