Baseball Falls to Quinnipiac in Home-Opener at Jaroschak Field

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's baseball team played at home in Jersey City at Jaroschak Field for the first time this season against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member, Quinnipiac University. The home opening conference game resulted in a 10-0 setback for the Peacocks on Friday afternoon.  


Five Peacocks earned a hit in game one of the weekend series. Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS) and Alex Slawinski (Carteret, NJ / Carteret) went 1-for-4 in the leadoff and number nine whole respectively. Jesse Matos (Bayonne, NJ / Marist HS), Austin Feigin (Toms River, NJ / Toms River North), and Chris Marquart (Hackettstown, NJ / Morris Catholic) all went 1-for-3 at the plate on the day.


Anthony Assante (Brick, NJ / Brick Memorial), Chris Pimentel (Bronx, NY / LaSalle Academy), and Aditya Chandel (Edison, NJ / J.P. Stevens) saw action on the mound for Saint Peter's. The trio combined to throw eight strikeouts, led by Assante's four. Assante (0-2) made the start and got the decision after pitching 4.2 innings on the day.


The Peacocks will continue the conference home series against Quinnipiac tomorrow Saturday, March 31 with a doubleheader. First pitch is at noon with game number two following.
