Baseball Falls in Mid-Week Meeting to NJIT

NEWARK, NJ – The Saint Peter's baseball team fell to in-state rival NJIT on Tuesday evening at Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ. The Highlanders knocked off the Peacocks 11-3.

 

Jesse Matos (Bayonne, NJ / Marist) posted a 2-for-4 evening with one RBI. Anthony Ramos (North Bergen, NJ / North Bergen) and Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill) each recorded one hit and one RBI. The three Peacock runs were scored by Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS), Alex Slawinski (Carteret, NJ / Carteret), and Chris Marquart (Hackettstown, NJ / Morris Catholic).

 

Joe Albunia (Jersey City, NJ / Hudson Catholic) got the nod for the Peacocks, going six innings. Albunia struck out three batters in the contest.

 

The Peacocks remain on the road for their second mid-week non-conference meeting against an in-state rival. The Peacocks will take on Fairleigh Dickinson in Teaneck on Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m.
