JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's baseball team squandered a 5-3 lead to Niagara University on Sunday, resulting in an 8-5 defeat in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. The Peacocks gave up five unanswered runs over the final five innings.

Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill) hit his second home run in as many days, this time hitting a three-run bomb over the right field fence giving the Peacocks a 5-3 lead over the Purple Eagles in the bottom of the fourth. The three-run homer capped off a five-run inning for the Peacocks. The fourth inning rally began with a run scored by Peter Ferony (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) after an error by Niagara's shortstop. Following the first run, Hunter Mason (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee) hit a RBI single that scored Tom Campo (Pine Beach, NJ / Toms River South) from third, putting the Peacocks behind, 3-2. With two-on, Ciooco stepped up to the plate and hit the go-ahead home run over the right field fence to give the Peacocks the 5-3 lead. Niagara scored runs in the fifth (1), sixth (3) and ninth (1) to reclaim the lead and secure the win.
