JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's baseball team scored 10 runs in the first game of a twin bill on Saturday against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Monmouth University. Despite the offensive explosion, the Peacocks fell 22-10 in game one and 5-0 in game two.
Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill), Hunter Mason (Marlton, NJ / Cherokee), and Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS) each went yard in the game for the Peacocks. Ciocco hit a three-run homer to left field in the sixth inning, Mason knocked a solo home run into left center in the eighth inning, and Quintero sent a three-run bomb over left center in the eighth.
Ciocco and Quintero led the Peacocks with three RBIs and two runs scored each. One RBI was logged by Mason, Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS), Peter Ferony (West Milford, NJ / West Milford), and Eric Mercado (Bronx, NY / All Hallows). Along with Ciocco and Quintero, Cole Robbins (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) also led the Peacocks with two hits each.
Starting righty, Willie Krajnik (Lyndhurst, NJ / Saint Mary) made his presence felt on the mound, pitching a complete game and striking out 10 batters in the final home game of his career.
Robbins, Quintero, and Ferony all had one hit in the game.
The Peacocks and Hawks conclude the weekend series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
