EDISON, NJ – Senior ace Willie Krajnik has claimed the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Pitcher of the Week award after leading the Saint Peter's baseball team to its first win of the season.
Starting right handed pitcher Krajnik pitched a complete game on the mound for the Peacocks baseball team leading to a 7-1 win over Iona on Sunday. The win ended the longest losing streak in program history and was the first for the program since May 20, 2016.
Krajnik pitched all seven innings for the complete game victory, throwing strikes on 68 out of his 107 total pitches. Krajnik struck out seven of the 24 batters that he faced and only gave up three hits, one walk, and one run on the afternoon. He posted a 1.29 ERA on the week, which was among the best in the league. Krajnik, along with help from the Peacock defense, recorded four, "three up, three down" innings, with three of those innings being 1-2-3 to earn the team's first win of the season.
Joining Krajnik as the MAAC baseball weekly award winners were Niagara's Greg Cullen and Monmouth's Dan Klepchick as player and rookie respectively.
