AUSTIN, TX – Danny Lapp (Trumansburg, NY/Charles O. Dickerson) led the Peacocks on day two of the NCAA Men's Golf Austin Regional on Tuesday, shooting a team low of 77 (+6). Lapp recorded a birdie on the 11th hole, hit a bogey on the seventh, eighth, 13th, and 16th, and hit for par on 12 of the remaining 13 holes.
Freshman Ryan Rodriguez (Highland Mill, NY/Cornwall Central) remains the top Peacocks in the tournament after his two rounds score of 151 (+9), while Lapp moved into second place on the team with his 159 (+17) score. Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) sits one stroke behind Lapp, after shooting a 160 (+18) after two rounds of the regional. David Powers (Glen Spey, NY/Eldred) has shot a combined scored of 167 (+25), while Mike Winter (Hamilton Square, NJ/Notre Dame) has posted a 170 (+28).
Regional host Texas, leads after two days with a regional low score of 565 (-3) and remains as the only team under par for the event. Oklahoma State shot a 282 (-2) in round two giving them the best score of the day and moving them into second place with a 569 (+1) total. Ole Miss (576), Iowa State (582) and, Arizona State (583) round out the Top-5 teams. The Peacocks sit in 14th place with a two-round total of 635.
This is the men's golf team's third trip in the last four years to the NCAA Division I Regional, last competing in the 2015 Connecticut Regional at The Course at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut and in 2014 at the programs first NCAA Men's Golf Regional in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Saint Peter's will be paired with McNeese State and the individuals for the third and final round on Wednesday. The teams will tee off from the 10th tee starting at 9:20 a.m. led by Winter who will be the first Peacock to tee off. He will be followed by Powers (9:31 a.m.), Diaz (9:42 a.m.), Lapp (9:53 a.m.) and Rodriguez (10:04 a.m.).
