VERONA, NY - The Saint Peter's men's golf team finished the first day of the Tiger Intercollegiate Invitational in fourth place with a final score of (318-298=616, +40). Sophomore, Stanley Garrant, led the Peacocks finishing 10th place with a score (149,+5).
"This team gave it everything they had today," said head coach Nick Dilio. "It was a long, cold, rainy day and they never gave up. This golf course is not easy and to shoot 298 in the afternoon and be in 4th place after two rounds is fantastic. Our goal going into tomorrow is to try and catch the second place team. It was a nice start, but each guy is looking to shoot a few shots lower tomorrow."
Jeffery Peters followed Garrant with a score of (153, +9) which is tied for 21st, and Jose Cardona totaled a score of (157, +13). Michael Stewart and Mike Winter each posted a total score of (159, +15).
Invitational host, Missouri finished the first day in the lead with a score of (564, -12). UNCW finished in second place with a (604, +28) and Boston College finished in third with a score of (611, +35).
The Peacocks will wrap up the tournament tomorrow at the Turning Stone Resort. Tee off for the Peacocks will start at 8am.
