MEN'S GOLF LINKS
JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's golf team will compete in the Ryan Lee Memorial Tournament this weekend on September 9 and 10, at the Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT. The first round will start promptly at 10am.
Practice rounds for the the Tournament will begin on Friday, September 8, followed by a welcome reception. The Teams will play two rounds of stroke play on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. The Hop Meadow Country Club features 6,915 yards, 36-hole, and 72 par course. All teams will play two rounds of stroke play on Saturday, September 9th and Sunday, September 10th.
The field features 10 non-conference schools which are, Bentley University, Bryant University, Central Connecticut, Fordham University, College of Holy Cross, Rouge et Or de l'Université Laval, LIU Brooklyn, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner College, and Yale University. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Schools competing are Fairfield University, Manhattan College and Monmouth University.
Last Time Out
The Saint Peter's University men's golf team placed fourth at the Tiger Intercollegiate Invitational with a final score of (318-298-299=915 +51). Stanley Garrant (77-72-76=225, +9) and Jeffery Peters (76-77-72=225, +9) led the Peacocks in the invitational, as they both finished the three round tournament tied for 12th place.
MEET THE STAFF
Head Coach Nick Dilio is a three-time NCAA qualifier, claiming the 2016 MAAC individual title. In the process of his collegiate career, he participated in the NCAA Regional action three consecutive years. As a junior he was a MAAC Runner-up and registered four top-15-and three-top-10 showings at the MAAC Championships. Dilio also made an appearance in the Porter Cup which is one of the top amature tournaments in the world. In previous years the Porter Cup hosted golf legends Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Ben Crenshaw, and Hal Sutton.
Director for the Men's Golf team is previous head coach, Peter Falloon. During his time as the head coach, he led the Peacocks to two consecutive MAAC Championships in 2014 and 2015. Falloon led Saint Peters in the NCAA Sugar Grove Regional in 2014 and the NCAA New Haven Regional in 2015. Three out of four years Falloon was named MAAC Coach of the year. Falloon was part of the undefeated golf team in 1964 and was selected as student-athlete of the year in 1965. He is now a member of the Saint Peter's Athletic Hall of Fame.
