SIMSBURY, CT - The Saint Peter's men's golf team finished the first day of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial in third place with a score of (292, +4). Junior, Mike Winter, led the Peacocks tying for fifth place, with a round of (71, -1).
"I thought we got off to a great start," said head coach Nick Dilio. "Going into tomorrow, if we can get off to a hot start like we did today, and just play a little better on the back nine we might be able to catch the leaders."
Jeffery Peters followed Winter with a score of (72, 0) which is tied for eighth place and Stanley Garrant shot a score of (74, +2). Jose Cardona finished day one with a score of (75, +3) while David Powers shot a (79, +7).
Fordham finished the first day in the lead with a score of (284, -4). Bentley finished in second place with a (291, +3) and Bryant finished in fourth with a score of (295, +7).
Against MAAC Competitors
Saint Peter's finished day one ahead of all the other MAAC teams in the competition. Monmouth finished fifth with a score of (301, +13), Manhattan College finished in eighth shooting a (305, +17), Fairfield is in 10th with a score of (307, +19).
The Peacocks will wrap up the tournament tomorrow at the Hopmeadow Country Club. Tee off for the Peacocks will start at 11:30am.
