Golf Competes in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Tournament on Monday

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's golf team will compete in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Golf Tournament October 16-17 at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ. The first round will tee off at 10am.

The teams will play one round of stroke play on Monday and on Tuesday. The Montclair Golf Club features an 18-hole, 71 par course. The field features six non-conference schools which are Wagner College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, St. Francis Brooklyn, Hofstra, Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Schools competing are Monmouth University, Iona College and Manhattan College.

Last Time Out

Jeffrey Peters (66, -4) won the individual title for the Saint Peter's University men's golf team in the George Hill Shootout on September 25. As a team, the Peacocks finished the shootout in second place with a final score of (295, +15).  

Peters was the only player in the field to to shoot under par. Michael Stewart followed Peters tying in third shooting (72, +2), Jose Cardona tied for eighth with a score of (74, +4) and Stanley Garrant finished with a score of (77, +7). Mik

Meet the Staff

Head Coach Nick Dilio is a three-time NCAA qualifier, claiming the 2016 MAAC individual title. In the process of his collegiate career, he participated in the NCAA Regional action three consecutive years. As a junior he was a MAAC Runner-up and registered four top-15-and three-top-10 showings at the MAAC Championships. Dilio also made an appearance in the Porter Cup which is one of the top amature tournaments in the world. In previous years the Porter Cup hosted golf legends Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Ben Crenshaw, and Hal Sutton.

Director for the Men's Golf team is previous head coach, Peter Falloon. During his time as the head coach, he led the Peacocks to two consecutive MAAC Championships in 2014 and 2015. Falloon led Saint Peters in the NCAA Sugar Grove Regional in 2014 and the NCAA New Haven Regional in 2015. Three out of four years Falloon was named MAAC Coach of the year. Falloon was part of the undefeated golf team in 1964 and was selected as student-athlete of the year in 1965. He is now a member of the Saint Peter's Athletic Hall of Fame.
