Men's Golf Finishes in Third Place at Tip O’Neill Donegal Diaspora Golf Challenge in Ireland

IRELAND – The Saint Peter's University men's golf team took their competition abroad on Saturday, playing in the Tip O'Neill Donegal Diaspora Golf Challenge in Ireland. The Peacocks finished the international tournament in third place, carding a 332.

"As far as the golf goes, the scores weren't are best, but considering the weather and course conditions, I thought we played well," said head coach Nick Dilio. "We only had one day of golf to get used to the firm and fast conditions, plus the wind was gusting any where from 25 to 30 mph. Overall it was a great learning experience that will benefit us in the future."

The Peacocks were lead by Michael Stewart, who shot an 81 at the event. Following Stewart on the card were Mike Winter with an 82, Jeffrey Peters with an 84, and Stanley Garrant with an 85.

"The overall experience in Ireland was fantastic," added Dilio. "It was mostly a golf trip, but we got to do some site seeing around Dublin on Sunday which was fun. The Tip O'Neill Irish Diaspora dinner was a fantastic experience as well. I think everyone had a great time and we are all grateful for the opportunity."
