Men’s Soccer Drop Conference Opener to Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team fell, 4-1, to Iona College on Tuesday afternoon in its MAAC opener.   


The Gaels scored the first four goals of the day, led by Daniel Huertas who scored two tallies. Matias Correa and Teddy Forson added one goal and one assist each on the day for Iona.   


The Peacocks goal came at the 88:29 mark with less than two minutes remaining and was scored by Michael Crentsil. The goal was the second of the year for Crentsil and came by way of a header, from Davis Hocking.


The Gaels outshot the Peacocks, 20-to-5 in the game. Peacock keeper, Jamie Cleland made five saves in the losing effort.


The Peacocks overall record drops to 1-6-2 and 0-1 in the MAAC on the year. Saint Peter's host hOURglass rival Monmouth on Saturday, October 1 at 2:00pm.
