Men’s Soccer Drop MAAC Opener to Marist on the Road

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team dropped its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener to Marist, 3-0, on the road Wednesday night.

 

"Disappointing result tonight and we were punished for one or two errors," said head coach Julian Richens. "We are still relatively young with five freshmen starting tonight. We won't be feeling sorry for ourselves and will be ready for our next conference game."

 

The Peacocks were outshot by Marist, 24-7 and at a disadvantage in corner kicks, 10-4. Marist goals were scored by Kevin Kappock in the 37', Samad Bounthong in the 68', and Allen Gavilanes at the 75'. 

 

The Peacocks starting keeper, Robbie Anderson made six saves in the defeat. Michael Crentsil led the Peacocks with two shots with one on goal. Five other Peacocks each logged one shot in the contest.  

 

The Peacocks will be back in Jersey City on Saturday, September 30 for a meeting with hOURglass rival Rider at 2pm.
