EDISON, NJ – Senior forward, Santiago Mateus (Morristown, NJ/Morristown), has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Wilson Offensive Player of the Week after his stellar, two goals and one assist performance in his final game at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field during Saturday's senior day game. The weekly award is the first of his career.
The 5-8 Morristown, NJ native played a role in all three of Saint Peter's tallies in the Peacocks 3-1 win over Siena on Saturday afternoon. Mateus scored two goals and added an assist in the win, giving him five points on the day. The goals were his first tallies of the season and his first time finding the back of the net since his freshman season.
On the season, Mateus has recorded two goals and two assists for six points. He had previously dished out an assist against Rider back on September 30. For his career, Mateus has nine points, on three goals scored and three assists handed out.
Joining Mateus as MAAC weekly award winners were Rider's David Pastuna as the Defensive Player of the Week and Canisius' Filipop Tamburini as the Rookie of the Week.
