Villonva Wild Cats at Saint Peter's

Opening Serve: The Saint Peter's men's tennis team welcomes Villanova University to the Yanitelli Bubble Saturday afternoon. The match marks the sixth consecutive home contest for the Peacocks. Saint Peter's was scheduled to face in-state rival Monmouth in West Long Branch on March 8th, but the contest was postponed due to inclement weather. The Peacocks head into the match with an overall record of 3-7 and a conference record of 1-1.
About the Wildcats: Nova comes into the contest at 3-5 on the year, and have yet to play any conference matches. Most recently, the Wildcats picked up a 4-3 decision over Bryant at home. The win came down to the doubles point and wins in the bottom three singles matches for the Wildcats, who have won two straight matches.
Last Time Out: In their last contest, the Peacocks picked up a decisive 7-0 win over Lafayette on March 3rd. The Peacocks won every match with the exception of the third singles match. In singles play, Saint Peter's won every match in two sets, with the exception of #1 singles where Carrera bested Lafayette's Brandon Goldstein in three by scores of 6-2, 6-7 (5) and 10-3.
Home Is Where The Heart Is: In their 2013 slate, 11 of the Peacocks 18 total matches are scheduled to take place in Jersey City, N.J. Saint Peter's will travel outside of the Metropolitan area just once in the year, as they head down to Batimore, Md. for a conference match against Loyola (4/20).
Up Next: The Peacocks will host MAAC rival Niagara University Bubble next Saturday, March 30th, for their third conference contest of the year. Saint Peter's opened MAAC play with a 6-1 win over Rider on October 27th and dropped a 6-1 decision to Fairfield on February 14th.
