Men's Tennis Defeats Lafayette, 5-2

EASTON, Pa. – The Saint Peter's men's tennis team defeated the Lafayette Leopards, 5-2, in non-conference action on Saturday.

In singles play, Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador/APCH) defeated his opponent Brandon Goldstein in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Marko Knezevic (Zadar, Croatia/V. Nazor) won his match against Brian Pinrand, 6-3, 6-0.

Tom Jottrand (Waterloo, Belgium/CCM) had success in his singles match, defeating his opponent Brian Stefonawicz in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Fabian Valdiviezo (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio-Aleman) won a three-set thriller against Chris Matturi, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-8). Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) won his singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Peacocks were unable to win a match, but were able to hold on for the 5-2 overall match victory.

With the win, Saint Peter's improves to 4-3 on the season while Lafayette falls to 1-3 on the year.

The squad returns to action Mar.8, when the team welcomes Wagner to the Yanitelli Bubble for non-conference action.
