Men's Tennis Announce 2014 Fall Schedule

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's men's tennis head coach Mike Scolamieri has announced his 2014 fall schedule. The Peacocks will play three schools from the Atlantic-10 conference in the fall.

"Our men get to play against the elite tennis players of the eastern tennis power programs", said Scolamieri, who enters his 10th season at Saint Peter's in 2014. "We will get exposed so we can develop practice plans to strengthen our team for our conference schedule."

The squad opens up the season on the road at Fordham on September 13. Saint Peter's took four of six singles matches to defeat the Rams last season in Jersey City by a score of 4-3.

Saint Peter's continues its road trip on Sept. 19-21, when the team returns to New York to compete in the Hofstra tournament. Following a week of rest, the Peacocks close out the month of September at Wagner on Sept. 28. The squad has won the last three meetings against the Seahawks by a combined score of 21-0.

The Peacocks open up the month of October with a trip to the City of Brotherly Love to take on La Salle University. After dropping two straight against the Explorers, Saint Peter's returned the favor last season with a 5-2 victory in Jersey City.

Saint Peter's will compete in its first conference match of the fall on Oct. 12 at Rider. The Peacocks have won its last three contests against the Broncs, including a 7-0 victory last season. Just a few days later, the team will participate in the ITA Indoor Regional at Penn University.

The team welcomes Queens College to the Yanitelli Bubble for its home-opener on Oct. 24. Saint Peter's has dropped two of its last three matches against the Knights, including a narrow 5-4 loss last season. The men conclude its fall slate on Oct. 26 at Drexel. The Dragons have taken three straight from the Peacocks, including a 6-1 victory last year at the Yanitelli Bubble.

Saint Peter's finished 8-10 last season, with a 2-5 record in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action. The squad returns seven players, including three of the first four players in the starting lineup. The Peacocks welcome three incoming players to the roster this season.
