Men's Tennis Drops Match to Rival Monmouth

TINTON FALLS, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team fell to defending MAAC regular season and conference tournament champion, Monmouth University, 7-0 on Friday night. It was the team's first away match of the Winter/Spring season at the New Shrewsbury Racquet Club.


Results - Jorge Rodriguez and Andres-Sebastian Rojas fell to Alejandro Gomez Estrada and Przemyslaw Filipek 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Ivan Knezevic and Jonathan Paredes dropped their match at No. 2 doubles to Nicola Pipoli and Vikrant Dahiya, 6-0. Douglas Nover and Gabriel Russotto were defeated, 6-1, by Christian Vieira and Richard Chen at No. 3 doubles. Jorge Rodriguez fell to the 99th ranked Pipoli, 6-1, 6-0 at the top singles flight. At No. 2 singles,  Andres-Sebastian Rojas lost 6-2, 6-0 to Filipek. Ivan Knezevic had the closest match at No. 3 singles against Gomez Estrada, falling 6-4, 6-2. Douglas Nover, at No. 4 singles against Vieira, and Gabriel Russotto, at No. 5 singles against Dahiya, lost by identical scores of 6-1, 6-1. Cuong Lam, No. 6 singles, fell to Bellersen 6-3, 6-2.


Up Next - The Saint Peter's University men's team, along with the women's team will host La Salle University on Sunday, February 19. The match will be the first #PackTheBubble event honoring the Asian American Student Union of Saint Peter's University.
