Rojas and Nover Earn Wins for Men's Tennis in loss against Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's tennis team remain winless in MAAC matches with one conference match left. The team fell to Rider University, 5-2, on Friday. Their record now drops to 1-19 and 0-6 in conference play.


Results - The coaches decided to play singles first in case of rain. The Peacocks lost four matches. Only No. 2, Andres-Sebastian Rojas, and No. 3, Douglas Nover, won their respective singles matches. Rojas defeated Adam Levi, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. Nover defeated Matthew Begley, 6-3, 6-2. No. 1, Ivan Knezevic, lost 6-0, 6-2 to Chris Popso. Gabriel Russotto lost Brandon Gildea, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 4 Singles. Jonathan Paredes, No. 5, fell 7-5, 6-1 to Jeremy Van Herwarde. At No. 6, Cuong Lam was defeated by Griffin Clark, 6-2, 6-1. Saint Peter's lost the doubles tandem point, 2-1. Knezevic and Rojas defeated Popso and Levi, 6-4, at No. 1. Russotto and Lam lost 6-4 to Clark and Gildea at No. 2. No. 3, Nover and Paredes, lost a tight match, 7-5, to Van Herwarde and Begley.

Up Next - The Saint Peter's University men's tennis team, along with the women's tennis team, will honor their six total seniors on Saturday, April 22. The match is set to begin at 10:00am against Niagara University in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble.
