Jersey City, NJ - Saint Peter's men's and women's tennis coach, Mike Scolamieri, has released the fall schedule for the 2017-18 season. The men's team will be participating in three tournaments and three dual matches and the women's team will be appearing in one tournament and four dual matches during the fall.
The men's and women's teams will open up their respective seasons at the Hofstra Invitational Tournament in Hempstead, NY. The men's tournament will take place from September 22-24. The women's tournament will be held the following weekend, from September 29 to October 1.
Next, the men's and women's teams will each have an away dual match on the following weekend. The men's team will travel to Fordham University to take on the Rams on October 7. On Sunday, October 8, the Peacocks women's team and Wagner University will meet.
The men's and women's teams will stay on the road for the second consecutive weekend as both squads travel to Hamden, CT, for a MAAC match against Quinnipiac University on October 14.
The men's team will have their top singles player and top doubles duo represented at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regionals from October 18-23. The regionals will be hosted by Yale University.
On October 22, the men's and women's teams will remain on the road and travel to Easton, PA for a match against the Leopards of Lafayette College.
The next day, the women's team will have their first home match of the season and last fall appearance against conference foe and hOURglass rival Monmouth University. The October 23 match will take place in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble.
The men's team will finish the fall portion of their season on the road in Annapolis, MD for the Navy Invitational from October 27-29.
Coach Scolamieri said, "the men's schedule has been strengthened by adding a tournament at Annapolis for the first time in which we will play against some higher level players from bigger schools which have never been on our schedule before. Additionally, we have for the first time a dual match against Navy which gives us the opportunity to find out how much we will have to improve to challenge the better teams in our conference which are at the level of Navy."
