BROOKLYN, NY - The Saint Peter's men's tennis team dropped another nail biter, this time to St. Francis College Brooklyn, 4-3. The overall team record drops to 2-9.
Singles Results - The coaches agreed to play singles before doubles prior to first serve. Hector Andres Jacome lost to Alejandro Ridruejo at No. 1, 6-3, 6-4. No. 2, Piotr Sowinski, and No. 3, John Oxner, were the lone singles victors over Javier Navarro and Guillermo Artiz, respectively. No. 4, Ignacio Tintore, No. 5, Ivan Knezevic, and No. 6, Douglas Nover, all lost in three setters. Tintore fell to Francisco Adolfo Blanco, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Knezevic was defeated by Stefan Gmijovic, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Nover ran out of gas at the end, losing to Daniel Blasco 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(0).
Doubles Results - Jacome and Sowinski lost, 6-4, to Blanco and Pablo Blasco-Torres. Knezevic and Oxner defeated Ridruejo and Artiz at No. 2, 7-6(6). Sebastian Ferrer and Gabriel Russotto won at No. 3 by default against Navarro and Blasco.
Up Next - The men's tennis team, along with the women, will battle La Salle in the Yanitelli Recreational Life Center Bubble. First serve is schedule for noon.
