OPENING PITCH

The Saint Peter's softball team will host Robert Morris in a doubleheader matchup on Friday and MAAC opponent Marist on Saturday.

WORD ON THE COLONIALS

Robert Morris split a doubleheader with St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, April 19 dropping the first game 3-5 and winning the second game 5-3. Olivia Lorusso leads the Colonials with a total of nine home runs, and  30 RBI's and Jordan Gurganus leads with a total of 28 runs.

WORD ON THE RED FOXES

Marist swept Boston University on April 19, winning the first game 5-3 and the second 8-2. Jonna Korak leads the Red Foxes with a seven home runs, and  25 runs and 35 RBI's. Pitcher, Kallen Leeseberg leads the team with a total of 60 strikeouts.

LAST TIME OUT

The Saint Peter's University softball team split their midweek doubleheader with Coppin St. on Wednesday, April 19 dropping the first game 12-9 and winning the second 7-4. In the first game Samantha Storms led the Peacocks as she totaled four RBI's and two runs including the a homerun. Georgia Verrastro followed with three RBI's and one run. For the second game freshman, Brianna Hutchinson led the Peacocks with one RBI and four runs. Storms led the squad with four RBI's on three hits.

MAAC STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK (4/10/17)

The MAAC Student-Athlete of the week for the week of 4/10 was senior, Samantha Storms. Storms has a .363 batting average on 4-for-11 hitting. She hit a two-run homer on Monday, April 10th against Niagara recording two RBI's. Storms is second with 10 RBI's, 7 runs, 4 doubles, and 6 walks.

WELCOME BACK

Saint Peter's softball team will return 10 players including four seniors, (Samantha Storms, Alyssa Ruiz, Crystal Carlucci,Candace Koch) two juniors, (Nicole Feoli, Chamar Sanchez), and four sophomores, (Schieler Collins, Harley Connors, Tiffani Lambert, Sydney Ramsey).

ROOKIES

The Peacocks welcome five freshmen to the team Kathleen Donovan (Abington, NJ), Alina Guevara (Agoura Hills, CA), Theamaris Ramirez (Homestead, FL),Brianna Hutchinson (Lebanon,OH) and Georgia Verrastro (Scott Township, PA).

COACHING STAFF

Chris Stelma begins his first season at the helm of Saint Peter's. He most recently served as an assistant coach at Division III, William Paterson University in New Jersey during the 2016 season. Prior to joining William Paterson, he was the owner of Fielder's Choice Baseball/Kaboom Softball in Andover, where he coordinates training, league play, tournaments and facilities, and served as the head coach of the U18 Showcase baseball and softball teams. Stelma was the baseball head coach at his alma mater, County College of Morris during the fall of 2007.

Stelma earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Rhode Island in 2006. While at URI, Stelma was a member of the baseball team where he played two seasons at shortstop for the Rams, making 31 starts and appearing in over 40 games. Prior to transferring to URI, Stelma began his collegiate career at County College of Morris where he played for current Saint Peter's assistant coach Ed Moskal in 2003. He was named All-Region and All-Garden State Conference at County College of Morris and ranked in the top 15 among JUCO hitters in 2003.
