JOHNSON CITY, TN - The Saint Peter's University softball team dropped to Jackson State 10-3 on the second day of the ETSU Buccaneer Classic.
"We are in the process of becoming more consistent, and a day like today can't be measured until we see how we come out tomorrow," said head coach Chris Stelma. "Our girls could have thrown in the towel today but didn't. We expect to come right back firing tomorrow."
Jackson State took the lead early as they scored three runs in the top of the first to lead the Peacocks 3-0. Saint Peter's got on the board in the bottom of the second when Barbara Verrastro doubled and advance Brianna Hutchinson and Harley Connors to home to score.
The Peacocks trailed the Jackson State 3-2 going into the third inning.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Verrastro singled and Schieler Collins scored. The Peacocks were unable to score and Jackson State won the game 10-3.
The Peacocks will continue play in the Buccaneer Classic on Sunday morning. The team will play Austin Peay at 9 a.m.
