LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Saint Peter's softball team fell to the Rider Broncs in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Peacocks dropped the first game 5-4 and the second game 7-3.
"Another great outing and real competitive games; we got some clutch hits and made some nice defensive plays," said head coach Chris Stelma. "I am hoping to keep the hot bats going into next week."
The Peacocks were down 4-0 until the top of the fourth inning. Verrastro singled to right center and advanced a base on a throw which allowed Theamaris Ramirez and Alyssa Adams to score a run each. Tiffany Lambert then singled to second base and Barbara Verrastro headed for home base for a score. The Peacocks trailed the Broncs 4-3 following the inning.
In the top of the third Ramirez homered to right field. The Peacocks were unable to hold the lead and Broncs won the game 7-3.
The Peacocks will host Drexel on April 17. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
