JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's softball team surrendered a conference doubleheader to Canisius on Saturday at Jaroschak Field. The Peacocks dropped the first game 10-0 and the second game 7-1.
"We couldn't string together our hits today and Canisius played an aggressive style ball," said head coach Chris Stelma. "We would like to thank Juan Ruiz and the players and coaches from the NJ Heat for making it a special day."
The Peacocks started pitcher, Mary Mastriani who pitched a total of five innings. The team was led by senior, Nicole Feoli who scored a run and hit a triple at bat. Ramirez recorded the team's lone RBI.
In the bottom of the first the Peacocks scored their lone run. Feoli hit a triple putting her in scoring position at third base. Ramirez came to the plate next and hit a double to right field which propelled Feoli to home plate for the scored run. Canisius responded with seven runs from innings three through six, picking up the 7-1 victory.
The Peacocks will host the Niagara Purple Eagles on senior day at the Joseph J. Jaroschak Field on Sunday, April 22. Saint Peter's will be honoring seniors, Nicole Feoli and Shamar Sanchez for all of their hard work and dedication to the program. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
