Peacocks Drop Series to Marist on Sunday

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Marist swept the Peacocks softball team on Sunday afternoon at the Softball Park at Gartland Field.The Peacocks dropped the first game 9-1 and the second 9-0.

"We are playing decent defense but couldn't match Marist's bats today," said head coach Chris Stelma.

Game 1

Barbara Verrastro led the team with a double, one RBI and a stolen base. Starting pitcher Sydney Ramsey pitched six innings and had two hits while Alina Guevara logged an earned run for the Peacocks.

The Peacocks scored their lone run in the top of the fifth. Guevara singled to the pitcher then later advanced to second base off a sac fly by Barbara Verrastro. Schieler Collins doubled down to right field and Guevara reached home to score, 6-1. The Red Foxes kept a strong lead and won the game, 9-1.

Game 2

Nicole Feoli, Harley Connors and Brianna Hutchinson had one hit each while Collins counted a stolen base. The Peacocks were unable to catch up and the Red Foxes won the game 9-0.

Next Up

The Peacocks return home and host two doubleheaders back to back. On Wednesday, May 2 the team will play a doubleheader series against conference member, the Manhattan Jaspers. The following day the team will hosts non-conference member, Coppin St. on Wednesday, May 3. Both matchups are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
