Women’s Swim Concludes Regular Season with Setback to Siena

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The women's swim team hosted Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, Siena College on Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season. The Peacocks were defeated, 144-56, to the Saints.

"The women's team finished up their regular season with a nice effort against a strong Siena roster," said head coach Mark Kretzer. "They are a really well coached team and it showed in their performances today in the pool. It gave our girls on our team something to strive for in where we would like to be in the near future. Sophomore Angel Gabinete had a good showing today in her three events, which should hopefully give her confidence going into our championship meet in a few weeks. Senior Karen Castaneda again anchored our team with top performances in the 200 freestyle and she also swam the fastest leg in our 400 freestyle relay. This was Karen's final competition in our home pool, and she certainly made the most of it today."

Both the men's and women's swim teams conclude the regular season. The team next head to Buffalo, NY for the MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Burt Flinckinger Center at Erie Community College from February 14-17.
