PROVIDENCE, RI - Saint Peters dropped a non-conference contest to Brown University, 80-71 at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Thursday Afternoon. With the setback, the Peacocks drop to 2-9 overall on the season.
The Brown Bear's, Shayna Mehta led her team with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Will posted 17 points.
"We started the second half with a lot more energy and played much better,"said head coach Pat Coyle. "Sajanna played very well today and is back to her old self."
The Peacocks got off to a rough start as Brown jumped to a 10 point lead at the ending of the first quarter (25-14). The Brown Bears held Saint Peter's to 13 points in the 2nd quarter before going into halftime leading 48-27.
Saint Peter's came back with vengeance outscoring Brown, 25-14 closing in on a 62-52 end of 3rd quarter. The Peacocks continued to fight as the offensive performance from Bethea helped put the team back in the game. The Peacocks unfortunately were unable to come back losing the contest to Brown University.
Next up the Peacocks will return to MAAC play, hosting Niagara in the Yanitelli Center on Dec. 30th. Tipoff is scheduled for 3pm.
