FAIRFIELD, CT - Saint Peter's women's basketball dropped a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matchup to Fairfield, 62-41, on Monday night in the Alumni Hall on the campus of Fairfield.
Alyssa Velles led the Peacocks with 10 points and nine rebounds. Sammy Lochner followed Velles with nine points while Talah Hughes posted seven points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Off the bench, power forward Ashlie Howell posted six points and five rebounds and Dajiah Martin pulled down six rebounds.
Leading the Stags was Casey Foley with 17 points and Khadidiatou Diouf with 13 points and nine rebounds. Erika Schlosser posted eight points and Samantha Cooper added seven points.
The Peacocks ended the half trailing the Stags 36-16. Lochner led the Peacocks with five points and Howell followed with four points as the team shot 25.9 percent from the floor.
The Peacocks fought in the final quarter as they combined to score 13 points to the Stags 12 points. Saint Peter's shot 62.5 percent from the free throw line and Velles led the team posting four points and pulling down four rebounds. The Peacocks dropped the game to the Stags 62-41.
Saint Peter's will return home to host Canisius in the Yanitelli Center on Thursday, January 18. The game in Jersey City is scheduled to start at 5pm.
