JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team was defeated by Niagara, 87-52 on Saturday afternoon in the Yanitelli Center. Freshman guard Haley Dalonzo led the team with 15 points.
Zoe Pero followed Dalonzo with 11 points to go along with six rebounds. Ashlie Howell posted eight points and Talah Hughes added seven points with a team-high nine rebounds. Dajiah Martin and Samantha Meier scored four points each while Brianna Tarabocchia posted three points.
Jai Moore led the Purple Eagles with 20 points and Victoria Rampado followed with 19 points. Jaime Sherburne and Kharysma Bryant each added 11 points while both Kaylee Stroemple and Maggie McIntyre tallied eight points.
The Peacocks ended the first half trailing the Purple Eagles 42-20. Pero led the Peacocks with eight points while Hughes and Dalonzo followed with four points each. In the second quarter the Peacocks shot 40 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the free throw line.
In the final half, the Peacocks shot 46.9 percent from the field. Dalonzo and Howell combined for 19 of the total 32 points. The Purple Eagles posted 45 points and defeated the Peacocks 87-52.
The Peacocks will next host Marist on Tuesday, January 23 at 7 p.m.. The game had previously been postponed from January 4 due to inclement weather.
