Series History
The Peacocks and Seahawks will be meeting for the 21st time overall and for the seventh season in a row since 2011. The Peacocks trail the Seahawks by a slim margin of 9-10-1. Saint Peter's has dropped six in a row to Wagner, last defeating the Seahawks in 2009 by a score of 2-0.

 

Last Time We Met
Last season, the Peacocks were defeated by Wagner 5-0 in the second game of the season. Taylor McLean matched her then career-best 12 saves in the game.

 

Wagner Scouting Report

The Seahawks come into the game with a 2-1-1 record. Wagner opened the season with a tie and then two wins in a row before falling to IUPUI, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks also have a 2-1 win over Peacock Rival Rider on the season. Maria Nunez leads the Seahawks with two goals on the year.

 

Up Next

The Peacocks will close out the non-conference season on the road at Hampton on Saturday, September 9 at noon and at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, September 13 at 3pm.

 

Among the MAAC Leaders

Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Scarratt has emerged as the starting keeper for the Peacocks. Thus far, Scarrat is the MAAC leader in saves per game, averaging 11.50 saves per contest. She ranks second in save percentage, second in shutouts per game, third in saves, and third in shutouts.

 

Looking Back at 2016

Saint Peter's ended the 2016 season with a 1-13-2 overall record and a 0-9-1 record in the MAAC. The Peacocks earned a league point for the first time in over two years last season with its draw with Fairfield and the team took playoff qualifying Canisius to overtime on senior day. Saint Peter's also gave up 34 less goals in 2016 compared to 2015, cutting its average goals allowed per game from 4.64 in 2015 to 2.81 in 2016. 

 

Looking Forward to 2017
The Peacocks only lost three seniors from the 2016 squad and the team returns 13 players from last year's roster. Returning starters include Taylor McLean, Alyssa Conanan, Brooke Trotta, Mia Greene, Olivia Nazzaro, Alexandria Couto, Aleena Cruz, Victoria Babcock, and Kelsey Nugent.  

 

New Additions
Head coach Melissa Sherwood added six new student-athletes to the 2017 team. Nazae CrawIsabel FernandezCarlee GonzalezRachel IngramElizabeth Pacillo, and Victoria Scarratt joined the lineup for the fall.

 

About the Coach
