EDISON, NJ – Junior forward, Barbara Paiva (Kearny, NJ/Kearny), has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Wilson Offensive Player of the Week after recording her first career hat trick on Saturday. The weekly award is the first of her career.
The 5-7 junior forward scored three goals, including the game-winner and also added an assist in the Peacocks 5-1, blowout win over Hampton on Saturday afternoon. Paiva's three goals and seven total points were more than any other MAAC player had on the week. The win improved the Peacocks overall record to 2-3 on the season and the five goals were the most in a contest by a Peacock team since 2015.
On the season, Paiva leads the conference in points (9), points per game (1.80), goals (4), goals per game (0.80), and game-winning goals (2). She also ranks fourth in shots per game (3.40) and sixth in total shots (17).
This week's MAAC award winners along with Paiva included Monmouth's Amanda Knaub as the Defensive Player of the Week and Niagara's Sabrina Locas as the Rookie of the Week.
