Victoria Babcock Scores Goal for Women’s Soccer in Setback at Manhattan

RIVERDALE, NY – The Saint Peter's women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Manhattan College on the road Wednesday night. The Peacocks conference record drops to 1-4 on the season.

"The second half performance was arguably the best half of football we've played at times thus far this season," said head coach Melissa Sherwood. "We out possessed the opposition and moved the ball well at times. Unfortunately, goals win games and we need to continue to improve in front of goal. Although we did not get the result tonight, overall, I am pleased with the performance. We limited a rampant Manhattan side to just one goal in open play."

The Jaspers scored two goals in the opening half to take a 2-0 lead over the Peacocks into the half. Emma Saul scored first in the 15th minute then Gemma Perez scored the second goal in the 42nd minute for Manhattan.

Victoria Babcock scored for the Peacocks in the 56th minute of action from 25 yards out cutting the Peacocks deficit to 2-1. Manhattan added one more goal in the 77th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.

Kelsey Nugent and Elizabeth Pacillo led the Peacocks with two shots each. In goal, Peacock keeper, Victoria Scarratt made eight saves on the night in 90 minutes of action.

The Peacocks will remain on the road this weekend, when the squad travels to Siena on Saturday for a 1pm kick-off.
