JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's women's soccer team was shutout at home on Wednesday afternoon by Fairfield University, falling 3-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAA) meeting. The Peacocks MAAC record falls to 1-6 on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper, Victoria Scarratt recorded her third career double-digit save contest, making 10 stops in goal on Wednesday afternoon. The 10 saves are the third most she has recorded in a single game this season. Carlee Gonzalez led the Peacocks with four shots. Isabel Fernandez posted two shots with both on goal and both Victoria Babcock and Kelsey Nugent recorded two shots each. The Peacocks had six shots on goal as a team but Fairfield goalie, Bre Cocuzzo save all six attempts.
Fairfield scored two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead in to the break. The Stags first goal came in just the fourth minute of action when Alex Madden scored a goal after recovering a rebound from a blocked save by Scarratt. The Stags second goal came in the 24th minute of play on a penalty kick by Kelsey Burke. In the second half, Madden added a third and final goal for Fairfield in the 76' giving the Stags a 3-0 win in Jersey City.
The Peacocks were outshot by Fairfield 24-12 and 6-2 on corner kicks.
The Peacocks close out the road portion of their schedule with back-to-back away contest, starting with Canisius on Saturday, October 14, then the Peacocks close out their road schedule on Wednesday, October 8 at Iona.
