The Peacocks and the Golden Griffins will battle for the 26th time since 1992. The Peacocks trail Canisius 5-20 all-time. Canisius has a two-game win streak on the Peacocks, with Saint Peter's last defeating the Golden Griffins, 3-1, in Jersey City during the 2014 season.

The Peacocks suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime defeat to Canisius last season in the final contest of the season at Jaroschak Field.

 

Canisius Scouting Report
The Golden Griffins bring a 7-7-1 overall record and 2-5-1 MAAC record into the meeting. Canisius is coming off of a 5-0 defeat to Manhattan and has lost two straight and dropped five out of their last seven contests. The Golden Griffins have league wins over Fairfield and Niagara.

The Peacocks lost their third straight contest, after falling to Fairfield, 3-0, on Wednesday at Jaroschak Field.

MAAC Player of the Week
Barbara Paiva earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week of September 11 after amassing three goals and one assist for seven total points. Paiva's three goals and seven total points were more than any other MAAC player had on the week, leading to her first career weekly award.

 

Looking Back at 2016
Saint Peter's ended the 2016 season with a 1-13-2 overall record and a 0-9-1 record in the MAAC. The Peacocks earned a league point for the first time in over two years last season with its draw with Fairfield and the team took playoff qualifying Canisius to overtime on senior day. Saint Peter's also gave up 34 less goals in 2016 compared to 2015, cutting its average goals allowed per game from 4.64 in 2015 to 2.81 in 2016. 

 

Looking Forward to 2017
The Peacocks only lost three seniors from the 2016 squad and the team returns 13 players from last year's roster. Returning starters include Taylor McLean, Alyssa Conanan, Brooke Trotta, Mia Greene, Olivia Nazzaro, Alexandria Couto, Aleena Cruz, Victoria Babcock, and Kelsey Nugent.  

 

New Additions
Head coach Melissa Sherwood added six new student-athletes to the 2017 team. Nazae CrawIsabel FernandezCarlee GonzalezRachel IngramElizabeth Pacillo, and Victoria Scarratt joined the lineup for the fall.

 

About the Coach
Melissa Sherwood is in her second season as the women's soccer head coach at Saint Peter's in 2017.
