Women's Tennis Upended by St. Francis Brooklyn

NEWARK, NJ - In a match between two winless teams, the Saint Peter's women's tennis team was swept by St. Francis Brooklyn, 7-0, on Sunday. The team's record drops to 0-12 overall. The match which was a scheduled home match, was relocated to NJIT's Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Center.


Doubles Results - The Peacocks lost the double tandem point, 3-0. Stephanie Falcon and Azuri Hughes teamed up at No. 1 but were defeated by Runsi Patro and Andrea Rojo, 6-3. Aidah Muhammad and Marta Ortega lost by an identical score, 6-3, to Sara Stankovic and Laura Dimante at No. 2. Saint Peter's defaulted No. 3 doubles.


Singles Results - Falcon represented the Peacocks at the top flight against Patro and fell, 6-0, 6-1. Hughes squared up against Jean-Na Koo at No. 2 but was defeated 6-0, 6-2. At No. 3, Muhammad and Stanjovic played with the Terrier victorious, 6-2, 6-0. Ortega lost by identical set scores of 6-2 at No. 4 to Dimante. Rachel Valentine suffered a setback at No. 5 against Ana Orozco, 6-0, 6-3. Rojo won by default at No. 6 singles.


Up Next - The Saint Peter's women's tennis team, along with the men's tennis team, will host Sacred Heart University on Sunday, March 18. First serve is set to be hit at noon.
