BRONX, NY - The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team fell to Fordham, 3-0 (12-25, 18-25,13-25) Tuesday in the Rose Hill Gym.
"In tonight's game we struggled offensively hitting negative," said head coach Amable Martinez."We need to find a way for us to improve in this aspect of the game."
Leaders for the Rams were Olivia LaPorta with 11 kills and four blocks, Mckenna Lahr with eight kills, and Morgan Williams with 13 digs.
In the first set, the Peacocks trailed the Rams early at 5-16. The Rams then sealed an 11- point lead as they led the Peacocks 20-9. The Peacocks fought to cut the deficit but eventually dropped the match at 12-25.
The Peacocks went point for point early in the second set falling one point short of Fordham at 7-6. Fordham broke away into a six-point stretch leading Saint Peter's 13-6. The Peacocks were able to close in on the Rams trailing 11-14 midway through the game. Fordham later increased their lead by four more points at 18-11. Fordham kept the strong lead over the Peacocks winning the set 25-18.
In the final set, the Peacocks trailed the Rams at 6-12. Saint Peter's were unable to close in on the Rams as they increased the lead to 20-11. The Peacocks added two more points before the Rams won the set 25-12.
The Peacocks will host St. Francis Brooklyn in the Yanitelli Center on Wednesday, September 13 at 7pm.
