LOUDONVILLE, NY - Saint Peter's women's volleyball team dropped to Siena, 3-1(12-25, 17-25, 25-19, 19-25) on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Lopez led the team with 11 kills and eight digs.
Caitlin Williams followed Lopez with five kills. Alexus Sharp and Kali Viles combined for eight kills scoring four each, Wildalys Soto led with 21 assists and defensive specialist, Karla Seda added the team's high of 13 digs.
Dakota Jackson led the Saints with 14 kills, Atonija Ivanovic added 12 kills. Jess Elbin led with 51 assists and JoJo Ashoka led defensively with 15 digs.
In the first set, the Peacocks trailed the Saints 9-3. The Peacocks were then able to cut the six point deficit to four as they trailed 12-8. The Peacocks were unable to catch up to the Saints and scored only four more points dropping the set 25-12.
Siena jumped out to a seven point lead in the second set at 9-2. Saint Peter's then scored five straight points falling behind the Saints by two points 9-7. Siena continued to lead the Peacocks as they went on a 9-2 run leading 18-9. Saint Peter's fought to catch up increasing their score by five allowing the Saints only three points at 21-14. The Peacocks added three points but the Saints won the set 25-17.
Saint Peter's pumped up the energy in set three as they led the Saints by four at 9-5. The Peacocks held the Saints to four points and increased their lead to 15-9. Siena was able to added to their score trailing the Peacocks 15-12. The Peacocks did not let up as three kills by Lopez and Williams and an error on Siena improved the lead to 19-13. The Peacocks continued to lead as they went up 20-15. The Saints added four more points and the Peacocks won the set 25-19, keeping the comeback hope alive.
In the final round, the Saints led the Peacocks early 6-0. Eventually the Peacocks closed in on the Saints falling short only two points at 10-8. Siena increased their score as they went on an eight to three run leading the Peacocks 18-11. The Saints later advanced to a 10 point lead at 23-13. The Peacocks held Saints to 23 as they added three points to the board at 23-16. The Peacocks added three more points and the Saint won the last match 25-19.
The Peacocks wrap up the two game series at Marist on Sunday, October 29th. The game is scheduled to start at 1pm.
