POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Saint Peter's women's volleyball team dropped a road contest to Marist, 3-0 (12-25, 16-25, 13-25) on Sunday afternoon. Danielle Lopez led the team with 11 kills and eight digs.
""We had our offensive issues in the first set and improved throughout the match," said head coach Amable Martinez." "We will get back to work as we come home for three matches this week."
Taylor Vanderbiezen added 30 assists, Nikki DeSerpa led with seven kills and Sarah Austin and Ashton Korona added six kills each.
The Peacocks were off to a slow start as Marist led 18-9. Saint Peter's scored three more points and the Red Foxes won the first set 25-12.
Like the first set, the Red Foxes double the Peacocks score at 20-10. The Peacocks were able to hold Marsit to one point as they added four points in a row trailing 21-14. Saint Peter's added two points and the Red Foxes finished the set 25-16.
Early in the third set the Peacocks got down by four points as the Red Foxes led 10-6. Marist continued to lead by four at 12-8 then increasing to a four point lead to seven at 17-10. The Peacocks scored three points and the Red Foxes won the set 25-13.
"We will continue to work on the things we can control and be more consistent with the positive we did this past week," said Martinez.
The Peacocks will return home and host Manhattan on November 1st. The game will still begin at 7pm in the Yanitelli Center.
