The Saint Peter's University men's golf team concluded the 2012 fall season with a first place finish at the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate. Led by three individual top ten finishes, the Peacocks attained their third first place finish of the fall.
Standing at second place following the first round of play yesterday, the Peacocks managed to overcome the three-stroke advantage LIU-Brooklyn had established and finished four strokes clear of the Blackbirds. For the tournament, Saint Peter's finished with an overall score of 587 (+19).
Nicholas Dilio led the way, tying for second place by carding a 144, two-over-par, for the tournament. Dilio shot a 72 in each round, and was just two strokes behind inidivdual champion Obediah Ayton of LIU who was even-par.
Brian Grubbs finished tied for 4th at four-over with a two-day score of 146. Andrew Gain came in tied for 9th and carded 148 (+6).
Eric Edmunds (T-21), Brandon Molson (T-24) and Luke Previte (T-44) rounded out the scoring for Saint Peter's.
Long Island University-Brooklyn came in second (590, +22), while Temple (597, +22), St. Francis University (598, +30) and FDU (605, +37) came in third thru fifth, respectively. Represented in the field were teams from the Big East, Atlantic 10, NEC as well as the MAAC (Manhattan and Iona).
"We had a great fall season recording three first place finishes, and two top-three finishes", commented Head Coach Pete Falloon. "We are looking forward to building on the sucess we've experienced going into the spring."
"The guys played very well and it shows that all our hard word paid off", added Assistant Coach Ray Ferrari.
