The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team (2-9, 0-2 MAAC) was defeated by Marist College (5-5-1, 1-1 MAAC) by a score of 3-1 this afternoon. After trailing 2-0 following the first half, the Peacocks were unable to come back despite a goal from freshman Jacob Robertson.
The match was locked at 0-0, until Marist's Evan Southsward connected on a header off a pass from Stephan Brossard at 31:46. The Red Foxes added a second marker with less than two minutes remaining in the frame, as Brossard headed in a serve by Dylan Lee.
Saint Peter's came within one ten minutes into the second frame following Robertson's goal. Sophomore Noah Sadoui would come up the left wing and find Robertson who rocketed the shot from 10 yards out.
Marist added a second insurance goal in the eighty-fifth minute, scored by Nick Bramall.
The Peacocks managed 15 total shots in the contest, 11 of which came in the second half, compared to Marist's 18. The Peacocks had an edge on corner kicks, recording 6 to the hosts' 4.
Saint Peter's committed 16 fouls overall, while Marist was called for 15.
Diego Mendoza took the loss in goal for Saint Peter's while recording 5 saves.
Saint Peter's returns home next Friday, October 12th, when they host Fairfield University at 3pm.
