Men's Relay Teams Lead The Way At Greyhound Invitational

At the Greyhound Inivitational Meet this past weekend, the Saint Peter's men's swimming and diving team came away with a 186-140 victory over MAAC rival Iona College, while dropping 182-169, 211-139 decisions to Loyola and Marist, respectively.

The women lost all three matchups by scores of 246-107 (Iona), 268-87 (Loyola), 297-62 (Marist). Freshman Christina Petrelis did however set a school record in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, finishing in 5th place with a time of 18:09.40. Petrelis broke her own record, which she had set earlier this season.

The men's 400 Yard Medley Relay team took home a first place finish, coming in at 3:26.90. Members of the team included: Mark Conte, Peter Jimenez, Valerijs Lebedevs and Lovro Bilonic. The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Conte, Bilonic, Lebedevs and Yohancey Kingston also came in first with a time of 1:34.96. The men's 800 Yard Freestyle Relay team (Lebedevs, Trey McGraw, Ayberk Ozturk and Sean Dunne; 7:09.79), 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team (Peter Jimenez, Conte, Yohancey Kingston, Bilonic; 1:27.04) and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team (Bilonic, Peter Jimenez, Conte, Lebedevs, 3:11.88) also captured third place finishes at the meet. 

Bilonic added additional first place finishes in the 200 Yard IM (1:52.99) and 100 Yard Backstroke (56.70), while Lebedevs came in second in the 200 Yard Butterfly (1:54.69) and third in the 200 Yard IM (1:55.24).

Peter Jimenez finished second behind teammate Bilonic in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.49. Jimenez added another second place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:05.45).

Mark Conte just missed first in the 100 Yard Back, finishing seconds behind Nicholas Spinella of Marist, while Brenda King also came in second in the 1650 Yard Freestyle (16:58.24).  

Conte and Facu Monteiro rounded out the scoring, finishing second and third, respectively in the 200 Yard Backstroke.

Rachel Wuko and Alexandra Sison led the women with top finishes. Wuko came in fourth in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:00.12) and fifth in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.80), while Sison clinched fourth place finishes in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:09.26) and the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:30.25).

The women's 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Wuko, Sison, Cristina Decisneros and Brigitte Rasmussen finished fourth with a time of 1:53.23.

"Our team's ultimate goal is to peak at the MAAC championships", remarked Head Coach Mohamed Abdelaal. "That being said, our athletes have shown progression from meet to meet and have been resilient when participating in competitions, when other teams have chosen to peak."

The Peacocks return to action this Friday, as they face off against Manhattan and Montclair in Montclair, NJ at 4:30pm.
