Box Score A late second-half run by the Stony Brook University Seawolves erased a comeback by the Saint Peter's University women's basketball team and resulted in a 63-41 defeat on the road. The Peacocks trailed 23-12 at the half, and managed to cut the hosts lead to seven with six minutes to play in the second stanza, before Stony Brook went on a late 22-7 run to seal the deal.
With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 0-8, while Stony Brook improves to 6-4.
Kristal Edwards led the charge with 16 points, marking the fifth time this season she has led the team in scoring and finished with double-digit points.
The Peacocks entered the first media timeout of the game tied at 4-4, after opening up the half with a 4-0 advantage. Stony Brook extended their lead to three (7-4), but three straight points by senior forward Kaydine Bent knotted the score at 7 with 11:50 on the clock.
Saint Peter's managed to stay within at least three points over the following seven minutes, but a 9-1 run by the hosts capped by back-to-back treys put the Sea Wolves ahead 18-11 heading into the last media timeout of the frame. Stony Brook picked up their first double-digit lead (22-12) with 1:26 remaining after Gerda Gatling sank two free throws.
Stony Brook went into the half-time break leading the Peacocks 23-12. Saint Peter's shot 26.7% from the floor in the stanza. They failed to connect on a three-pointer in 5 attempts. The Seawolves shot 30.8% from the floor, 28.6% from long distance.
Over a third (16) of Stony Brook's first half points came off of Peacocks turnovers. Saint Peter's committed 15 miscues in the opening stanza.

Saint Peter's started off the second half out-scoring the hosts by a 9-4 run to get within six at 27-21. A 6-0 run by the Sea Hawks reestablished a double-digit lead (33-21) to head into the under-12 timeout.
Stony Brook maintained at least a ten-point advantage until the Peacocks formed a 7-2 run (6 points from Kristal Edwards) to cut the deficit to eight points (41-33).
With 6:19 remaining in the game, Antonia Smith would go 1-2 from the line at 6:02, to bring Saint Peter's within 7 (41-34), until a 22-7 run by the Seawolves put the game out of reach for the Peacocks.
Overall, Saint Peter's shot 36.1% from the field, 26.7% from three-point range and 64.7% from the line. Stony Brook shot 44.4%, 38.5% and 47.6%, respectively.
The Peacocks were out-rebounded by a 38-27 marking and committed 26 turnovers, while forcing 17.
Stony Brook was led y Chikilra Goodman's 13 points. Dani Klupenger also finished in double-figures with 12 points for the Seawolves.
Saint Peter's returns to action Saturday, December 22nd for a 5pm home game against Bucknell.
