The Saint Peter's University men's and women's swimming and diving squads each picked up two victories against Manhattan and Montclair State to close out competition for the 2012 calendar year. The men defeated Montclair 151-83.50 and Manhattan 143-78, while the women defeated both schools by scores of 140-69.50 and 121-98, respectively.
On the women's side, Christina Petrelis broke the school record in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:58.26. Additionally, Alexandra Sison won both the 200 Yard IM (2:17.24) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:27.06).
The 200 Yard Medley relay team (1:56.46) of Michelle Corpuz, Nowras Halag, Cristina Decisneros and Brigitte Rasmussen and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team (1:28.16) of Rachel Wuko, Alma Lopez, Petrelis and Sison took home first place finishes.
Other first place finishes for the women included: Lopez (200 Yard Freestyle- 2:03.26), Decisneros (100 Yard Butterfly- 1:01.53), Wuko (100 Yard Freestyle- 53.97) and Corpuz (100 Yard Backstroke- 1:05.30).
The men were led by Lovro Bilonic, Brendan King and Valerijs Lebedevs, who were each double event winners. Bilonic came first in the 200 Yard IM (1:56.04) and the 100 Yard Backstroke (53.22), King came first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle (10:13.08) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:58.04) and Lebedevs came first in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:46.22) and the 100 Yard Breaststroke (58.56).
Mark Conte also took home a first place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 53.05.
Just like the women, both men's relay teams also finished first. The 200 Yard Medley Relay team (1:39.13) consisted of Conte, Peter Jimenez, Alejandro Rubin and Yohancey Kingston, while the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team 1:28.16) consisted of Bilonic, Sean Dunne, Lebedevs and Ayburk Ozturk.
The squads return to action on January 19th, when they host Rider in the Yanitelli Center Pool at 10am.
