The Peacocks dropped both games of today's double-header to the Charlotte 49ers by scores of 10-0 and 5-2. Saint Peter's was limited to just four hits in both games, and gave up 12 in the first and 9 in the second. Matt Yuhas picked up the loss in game 1, while Dom Macaluso received the loss in game 2.
Charlotte scored 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh to add to a four run lead. Third basemen Shane Basen went 3-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored to pace the 49ers. Russel Stupienski and Gerard DeFilippo each recorded a hit for the Peacocks. Yuhas gave up 8 hits, 4 earned runs and walked 2 batters in 6 innings pitched. Charlotte starter Tyler Barnette gained the victory after going 5.1 innings, striking out 4 and giving up 1 hit.
In the second game, the Peacocks led 1-0 in the fourth after Brian Koster singled in Preston Aldridge who reached base on an error by the 49ers' shortstop. Saint Peter's lead was short lived, as Charlotte scored two quick runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Miguel Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly from Brad Elwood. The 49ers added one more run in the 5th and two more in the 6th. Nicholas Henriquez would score the Peacocks second and last run in the top of the eighth off on an RBI single by Aldridge.
Macaluso was credited with the loss for SPC after giving up 8 hits, 5 earned runs and walking 3 in 5 innings. Anthony DeLeo pitched the last three innings for the Peacocks and gave up just 1 run, while striking out 2. Charlotte's Corey Roberts gained the victory after going 7 innings and allowing 4 hits and just 1 run.
The Peacocks wrap up their series against Charlotte tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
