The Saint Peter's College Peahens gained a split this afternoon in the MAAC opening doubleheader at Rider. The Broncs won the first game 8-0, but the Peahens rebounded behind a four-hitter thrown by Shelby Beaver to get a 2-1 victory in game two. Beaver allowed just the one earned run in game two, while Francesca D'Amato went 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
In game one, Rider jumped out to a lead with three in the first, one in the second and two more in the third. They wrapped up their scoring with two more in the fifth. Saint Peter's did not record a hit and had one base runner in the contest.
In the second game, Saint Peter's jumped out on top with a run in the second on a sac bunt by Nicole Schnecker. They scored their second run in the third on an RBI double by D'Amato. Beaver did the rest, allowing her run in the fifth.
Saint Peter's will return to action on Tuesday as they host Wagner at 3pm in Jersey City.
